Cedarstone Group Inc. transformed this Scarborough home with a second-storey addition, custom kitchen, renovated bathrooms and coordinated modern interiors.

Completed in 2024, this design-build project combines a whole-home renovation with a second-floor addition in Toronto. The scope includes a complete main-floor remodel, expanded upper-level living space, window replacement and updated mechanical systems.

The custom kitchen brings together light wood-look cabinetry, pale countertops, a central island and stainless steel appliances. Practical storage features include full-height pantry cabinets, pull-out pantry drawers, concealed waste and recycling bins, corner-cabinet organizers, illuminated appliance cupboards and layered drawer storage. Black pendant lights and under-cabinet lighting complete the kitchen renovation.

Two renovated bathrooms provide distinct bathing spaces: a glass-enclosed wet room with a freestanding tub, rain shower and navy double vanity, and a compact bathroom with an alcove tub-shower combination and single vanity. Arched mirrors, gold-tone hardware, recessed shower niches and pale large-format tile coordinate the bathroom finishes.

A modern staircase with glass balustrades, oak handrails and wood treads connects the floors. Scandi Skies is a Scandinavian second-storey addition in East York, Toronto, designed and built by Cedarstone Group Inc. A modest bungalow became a bright two-storey home with more living space, a cohesive modern exterior and a custom open-riser oak staircase.

The new upper floor includes two spacious bedrooms with 15-foot vaulted ceilings and a modern bathroom. A light-filled workspace shows the flexibility of the added rooms, while sliding glass doors connect the primary bedroom to an upper wood deck with black-framed glass railings. Warm wood, white walls and clean black accents carry the Scandinavian design throughout.

Architectural details include oak stair treads and handrails, slim black balusters, custom winder steps, natural wood exterior siding and dark vertical metal cladding. The new bathroom features marble-effect porcelain tile, a glass-enclosed tub-shower, matte-black fixtures, a recessed shower niche, a skylight and a floating wood double vanity.

The addition required structural reinforcement of the existing foundation and load-bearing walls, custom framing for the vaulted ceilings, enhanced insulation and energy-efficient building-envelope upgrades. The vertical expansion added an entire upper level while preserving the home’s footprint.

The kitchen combines white skinny-Shaker cabinetry, gold tab pulls and a large black island with a pale veined waterfall countertop. Custom details include a plaster range hood, folding pot filler, concealed appliance garage, full-height storage, plywood drawers and integrated cabinet ventilation.

Throughout the home, new flooring, fresh interior paint and new doors create a coordinated finish. The Perfect Beam House in the Junction, Toronto, is a whole-home renovation by Cedarstone Group Inc., bringing a coordinated modern finish to the kitchen, living and dining areas, basement, bathrooms, bedrooms and entry spaces.

The open kitchen features custom white cabinetry, gold-toned hardware and a large porcelain waterfall island with a sink and seating. Matching porcelain backsplash surfaces, stainless appliances, a glass range hood and globe lighting complete the cooking and gathering space. A wood dining table and comfortable conversation lounge connect with the kitchen across pale wood flooring.

Custom white-oak stairs with black metal balusters link the levels. The finished basement includes a family home-theatre lounge and a long storage wall fitted beneath the windows. Bathroom details include custom vanities, linen cabinetry, an Aquabrass shower system, large porcelain wall tiles and a glass corner shower with an envelope-cut tile floor.

Continuous herringbone engineered hardwood brings the main living spaces together, with mosaic hexagon tile defining the foyer.

The white kitchen features custom oak Shaker panels along the peninsula seating bar, a black double-bowl sink and faucet, floating shelves, gold-toned hardware and glass pendants. A custom range-hood cover was built around the homeowners’ chosen design reference. The adjoining living room pairs a white fireplace surround and dark television panel with comfortable seating and a compact dining area.

Upstairs, a home office combines monkey-and-botanical wallpaper with mustard seating and a bright dormer workspace. The bedroom’s deep green geometric wainscoting was measured and sketched specifically for the homeowners’ wall. The staircase was retreaded and stained to match the new light flooring, complemented by square-profile wood handrails, glass panels and black fittings.
